Staying Focused in the Crowd

Hi Friends!

Greetings in our Lord!  I hope you’re doing well today!

I’ve noticed from the recent posts on Facebook that many of you, like me, have been traveling this past month.

My husband Jan and I recently visited Times Square in New York City.  Yes, it was fun, exciting, entertaining, educational, tiring …certainly not boring in any way.  Another Christian traveler I was visiting with referred to Times Square as “over-stimulating”.  As I stood in the middle of it all, bombarded with gigantic flashing ads all vying for my attention, I would agree.

Also standing in the middle, was one solitary young man holding a small handmade poster which read, “Jesus loves you”. God bless that faithful servant.  To me, he represented God’s still small voice that speaks love, peace, joy, strength, forgiveness, and volumes more to us if we would just stop and listen.

The following day, after hours of walking, Jan and I settled for a cab ride where I managed to snap this pic!  See the carriage darting right in front of us?

In the midst of a massive traffic jam, that obedient, trusting horse followed his master’s lead and headed straight to a safe destination, Central Park.  Notice the blinders?

What was my take away from these new and interesting experiences?  I’ve considered that in the middle of all the worldly noise, I can choose to listen and trust God for His confirmation and guidance. Proverbs 3:5-6  I also need to put on a good set of Holy Spirit blinders to keep my focus looking straight ahead to Jesus!    Following these two basic life-principles would be using good horse sense, don’t you think?

Many blessings for beautiful Fall days ahead as you follow His lead!

In Christ always,
