BE STILL and KNOW

Blessings Again Friends!
I’m so honored to present you with this 100th edition of Praise Notes. Thank you so much for kind comments and support!

During this first half of 2022, Psalm 46:10 has been getting my attention in a variety of ways. This scripture just kept popping during my web searches and then, from several different sermons.     Because I’m most often a go-getter, being a sit-stiller hasn’t been easy for me. I remember, as a teenager at Summer Camp, that I dreaded the daily requirement to be F.O.B. as part of the afternoon schedule. F.O.B.? Flat On Back!

In my 20’s and as new Christian, God allowed me to be F.O.B. again when I got a nasty case of the flu one winter. With very little knowledge of scripture, it was my chance to read entirely through a children’s Bible and get my first real exposure to all 66 books. Previously, my only Bible experience was through the lens of Hollywood movies. So, for me that year, being F.O.B. was a means to growing my faith.

Fast forward to now. I’m currently recovering from the new virus and again, I’ve found myself to be F.O.B. with C.O.V.I.D.  Psalm 46:10 has been getting its way with me and there are benefits. Time to listen, time to pray, time to reflect, time to rest, time to understand, and time to grow. It’s a season, like Winter, when everything rests before a new Spring bursts forth.

The prophet Isaiah expresses it well in Chapter 43, verses 18 and 19:
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness     and streams in the wasteland.

Psalm 46:10 is the reset that equips us to face these tumultuous times with less fear and more confidence.  Here’s how:

BE STILL
Cease talking
Switch off your phone
Cease commenting
Cease arguing and questioning
Be still and listen
Rest

KNOW
Cease doubting
Surrender other opinions
Have confidence in God through His Son, Jesus

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. Psalm 56:3

I AM GOD
He is
God said to Moses, “I am who I am.  Exodus 3:14
I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people. Leviticus 26:12
While he (Jesus) was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” Matthew 17:5
Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. John 14:10

“But what about you?” he (Jesus) asked. “Who do you say I am?”Matthew 16:15

The time is now to embrace PSALM 46:10 and believe! “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Thank you for staying connected with me. God bless you as you take time to be still and know.
In Christ always,
Carole
