Hi Friends and a Joyous Christmas to you!

Yesterday, a surprise beacon of light came from a distant window to shine on the antique Nativity scene under our tree. For authenticity, I created the cave setting to replace the traditional barn….this after visiting the limestone cavern below the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.

You’re only seeing a few of my Grandmother’s antique figurines. With all the tiny statues circling the base of the tree, the natural sunlight specifically illuminated the manger for about 5 minutes.  How beautiful!

Light bends, you know.  It wraps around corners and reaches into obscure and unexpected places.  It wakes us up and shows us the way.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  John 8:12 NIV

I love how Jesus, the Light of the world, bends to meet us where we are; around the corners of our hurting hearts.  He shows up in unexpected places and illuminates our minds to the Truth of His word.  When we need direction, He shows us that He is the Way.   What a joy to follow Him!

Thank you Father God for sending your precious Son to us.  If not, how would we know of Your great love for us? 

May your Christmas be greatly blessed!

Loving Father,

Help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and the worship of the wise men. Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world.  Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting.

Deliver us from evil by the blessings that Christ brings and teach us to be merry with a clear heart. May the Christmas morning help us to be happy with Thy children and may the Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus’ sake.   Amen.

Irregardless of the news stories and the uneasiness that surrounds us, I am overflowing with gratitude for the faithfulness of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and all that He has done for you and for me!

My gratitude list also includes great thanks to:

  • my wonderful husband Jan for his steadfast love over the first 43 years of our marriage
  • Jan’s mom, Val Brewer, as she celebrates her 94th Birthday next week!
  • all of my ministry support team & faithful prayer partners!
  • my wonderful guests on my Bible Chicks Radio Show
  • past event planners whom I’ve had the privilege of serving with
  • you, my friends and readers for your kind comments and for staying connected with me!

I’m grateful for God’s gift of music too!


This December, Jan and I are privileged to be performing again with the fine musicians of the Winds of Faith Concert Band under the direction of Van Crane.  (That’s Jan, back on the drums)

Staying Focused in the Crowd

Hi Friends! 

Greetings in our Lord!  I hope you’re doing well today!

I’ve noticed from the recent posts on Facebook that many of you, like me, have been traveling this past month.

My husband Jan and I recently visited Times Square in New York City.  Yes, it was fun, exciting, entertaining, educational, tiring …certainly not boring in any way.  Another Christian traveler I was visiting with referred to Times Square as “over-stimulating”.  As I stood in the middle of it all, bombarded with gigantic flashing ads all vying for my attention, I would agree.

Also standing in the middle, was one solitary young man holding a small handmade poster which read, “Jesus loves you”. God bless that faithful servant.  To me, he represented God’s still small voice that speaks love, peace, joy, strength, forgiveness, and volumes more to us if we would just stop and listen.

The following day, after hours of walking, Jan and I settled for a cab ride where I managed to snap this pic!  See the carriage darting right in front of us?

In the midst of a massive traffic jam, that obedient, trusting horse followed his master’s lead and headed straight to a safe destination, Central Park.  Notice the blinders?

What was my take away from these new and interesting experiences?  I’ve considered that in the middle of all the worldly noise, I can choose to listen and trust God for His confirmation and guidance. Proverbs 3:5-6  I also need to put on a good set of Holy Spirit blinders to keep my focus looking straight ahead to Jesus!    Following these two basic life-principles would be using good horse sense, don’t you think?

What’s Going On?

Hi Friends! 

What’s going on?   Fires, hurricanes, and lots more!  Difficulties, sadness, and lots more!

Hold tight!  Hold tightly to our Lord; not only for comfort but for assurance that we are His!  I’m doing just that by making a commitment to spend more time in His presence and in His word.   Doing so will help both you and me get ready for all that the Lord has for us this Fall.

Ephesians 3:20-21 tells us: Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus…

As you watch, wait, and pray are you finding His joy, blessings, security, comfort, and lots more? That’s my prayer for you today!

God Sees the Heart!

Hi Friends!
I couldn’t resist putting this adorable pic in blog!Aquilla

I met Aquilla the Porcupine in a wildlife preserve on my recent trip to Alaska.  She’s doing just fine, wouldn’t you say?  (getting lots of delicious greens from the tourists)
I found that when petting Aquilla with a gentle downward stroke on her back, she’s actually quite soft.

What are you looking like these summer days?  I’m laughing because currently, my hair is full of chlorine from swimming, my nails are very short from gardening, and…I’ve been cleaning out my garage.   No pics of me on this newsletter!!!…. except for the one below, not taken in my garage!

I love that God sees beyond our messiness and our spiky quills when riled up.   I’m grateful that our He is consistent and not two-sided. God doesn’t have off days.   His beauty and His glory are unchanging and forever.

Psalm 119:2 tells us “Happy are those who keep His decrees and seek Him with all their heart”

My prayer for all of us is that no matter how rough or unfinished we are on the exterior, our hearts continue to beat at a steady pace following after the heart of Jesus.   He is the Author and Finisher of our faith!

A Chance to Sing on the Princess Stage!

You just never know what opportunities lie ahead for us, right?

My husband and I were on vacation, an Alaskan cruise, and he wanted me to audition for this contest.  I was reluctant and balked but he didn’t give up!   Searching for a song from their list of karaoke tunes, I gave it my travel-exhausted, late-at-night best.  As a result,  I made it in with the top seven.

The crew told us we were the most qualified group of singers they’ve had all year and I think they were sincere.  We were an excellent team of singers who made the concert enjoyable and entertaining for the audience of 900.

For me, I had to practice and practice plus select a song that I knew would work for me.   So, Wind Beneath My Wings was my choice.   Visit You Tube to hear my rendition and my brief testimony afterwards.   It was a hoot!  Carole Brewer, Finalist for Voice of the Ocean

Spiritually Hydrated

Dear Friends,

Have you ever felt that your spirit needed some hydration?

Has frustration, disappointment, or even sadness caused you to feel as if your life is shriveling?

Really, it happens to the best of us when we move away from the true source, Jesus Christ, who described Himself to the woman at the well as Living Water.  (John 4:10)  The woman thought that the super water Jesus was describing sounded fabulous and wanted to know where to get some…..not considering the infusion of God’s Holy Spirit into her life.

The magnitude of water that God has given us this year, as demonstrated by Yosemite Falls, proves His faithfulness to provide for us everything we need….including spiritual hydration.  And, the beauty of God’s presence cannot be rivaled.

It’s time for all of us to hydrate and re-hydrate with Jesus, the Living Water.  Say, “Yes Lord, I admit that I am a sinner and I offer my heart to You.  Thank You for pouring Your Holy Spirit into my life today.”

And all God’s people said, “Amen!”

Dear Friends,

Have you heard that Jesus Christ gave His life for you?  Through His sacrifice, suffering, and death, you’ve been given the privilege of approaching God’s throne of grace.

But, how can that be when Jesus died on the cross and was buried?  I’ve seen the answer to this question first hand and I can verify the truth with my personal photos!

The tomb is empty!

Many people I meet also question what to believe with so many religions to choose from. They wonder, “Is Jesus equal to God or just God’s son (small “s”), with no real power on his own?”  “Does the price Jesus paid really make a difference for the world and for me?”
My Bible refers to Jesus as the Son of God with a capital “S”.  This is not a typo!  Past scholars translating from the earliest scriptures wanted us to know that Jesus is far beyond the little “s” sons of God that we are.  He is the Christ, the Anointed One.  Jesus is King over all earthly kings and Lord over all earthly men.  He is all powerful, seated next to God the Father, with a heart completely passionate about me and completely passionate about you!  His love for each of us is far beyond human comprehension.   Can any other religion offer such unmerited love, forgiveness, and security?  If you investigate, you’ll find the answer is no.

It’s Spring; a glorious time of year for all living things!  Let’s not miss it!   It’s our chance for a new beginning and a fresh start!  Please consider where you stand this Resurrection Sunday.  Have you surrendered your heart to Jesus, your Lord and God?  Let these inspired words from the Bible permeate your mind and heart this weekend.

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:10  

 If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.  John 8:36
