Hi Friends and a Joyous Christmas to you!

Yesterday, a surprise beacon of light came from a distant window to shine on the antique Nativity scene under our tree. For authenticity, I created the cave setting to replace the traditional barn….this after visiting the limestone cavern below the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.

Grandma's Nativity Scene

You’re only seeing a few of my Grandmother’s antique figurines. With all the tiny statues circling the base of the tree, the natural sunlight specifically illuminated the scene for about 5 minutes. How beautiful!

Light bends, you know.  It wraps around corners and reaches into obscure and unexpected places. It wakes us up and shows us the way.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 NIV

I love how Jesus, the Light of the world, bends to meet us where we are; around the corners of our hurting hearts. He shows up in unexpected places and illuminates our minds to the Truth of His word. When we need direction, He shows us that He is the Way. What a joy to follow Him!

Thank you Father God for sending your precious Son to us.  If not, how would we know of Your great love for us?

May your Christmas be greatly blessed!

In Christ always,

Clothed in God’s Love

November 15, 2018 at 12:57 pm | Posted in Christian Women | Leave a comment

Hi Friends!

I had the great blessing of speaking last weekend for a group of ladies in the Lodi,
CA area. The topic they requested was “Clothed in God’s Love”.

Aren’t you grateful that our God gives us actual spiritual garments that we can
dress ourselves in? His divine accessories are not only for praise but for battle!

If you’re personally not in some sort of spiritual battle right now, prepare because
sooner or later you will be. When we belong to the Lord and are sharing the Good
News with others, the enemy will do what he can to disrupt our lives and our joy.

Here are some of the wardrobe staples from Ephesians Six that really do make us
look much better when we put them on!

Creator Collection Accessories

For certain, we need to be “fat” in the word. If we aren’t, the belt of truth will end up around our ankles!

More than ever, let’s READ, CONSIDER, AND LIVE IT OUT!
Jesus is our living hope!

God bless you with a wonderful Thanksgiving!

In Christ always,

Having Joy in an Eccentric World

October 9, 2018 at 4:58 pm | Posted in Christian Women | Leave a comment

Hi Friends!

Have you recently considered 2 Timothy 1:7? The apostle Paul tells us, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

A sound mind means well-adjusted; an explanation for why we can be full of joy when there is so much turmoil in our world.

When we reflect joy in the midst of a trial, we are considered by many to be eccentric or just weird.  Ha!

Eccentric is a mechanical term meaning off-center, out of balance, catty-wampus.  What a false description for believers!

Jesus is the center of the universe. He is the reason that physics, molecules,  and our physiology are held together so well.  When He is in the center of our lives, we are in harmony with the universe and Him!

People who choose to reject God’s truth are the off-balance, eccentric ones. The evidence is in our daily news.

My prayer for all of us is that we who are Christ-centered will have no spirit of fear and will keep shining the love of Jesus in a dark world.

Many blessings to you as you rejoice in His goodness!

In Christ always,

PS: Below is a photo I took last month at Zephyr Point, Lake Tahoe during the Revitalize women’s retreat. Be blessed by the beauty of God’s creation and His word!

Whatever is...

Paddle Forward

September 17, 2018 at 3:41 pm | Posted in Christian Women | Leave a comment

Hi Friends!

Blessings to you these last few days of summer!  For many parts of the country, it’s not summer at all.  Please keep all those living in the path of hurricane Florence in prayer.

I’m so grateful that my six-week devotional Revitalize is now available and pray that many will be greatly blessed as they go through it!

Here’s an excerpt to bless your day!

WEEK 1, DAY 1

Paddle Forward

I’ve always loved rides that inspire me to sound off with a loud “Whee!” or “Yee-haw!” While visiting the Canadian Rockies, my husband and I decided to try a white-water raft trip.

After wriggling into wet suits, rubber booties, and life jackets, we received a crash course in dry dock on rowing etiquette.

Paddle forward

Paddle backward

Paddles up

Those commands seemed easy enough to follow.

Our group of seven gripped the side-ropes of our raft and lugged it downhill to the river’s edge-a pebbly beach just around the bend from the bottom of the magnificent, roaring Athabasca Falls!

Quickly choosing our seats, we braced ourselves while our guide at the back calmly said, “Ready? Paddle forward.”

My Unusual Summer

July 20, 2018 at 2:49 pm | Posted in Christian Women | Leave a comment

Hi Friends!

Summer is an amazing time of year when the weather allows for swimming, camping, picnics, BBQ’s, and simply enjoying being in the great outdoors!

For me, I’m getting a late start since I’VE BEEN IN MY OFFICE WRITING!

Yes, I’ve been writing words–without music–in book form. Really! You might be thinking, “Big deal. Doesn’t everyone these days?” A lot of my friends are but for a musician like me, it’s been new and challenging.

After working on my projects since last August, I’ve come up with two books!  First is my voice manual Cookin’ Up a Song which I began several years ago.  My fun-filled faith-based book for church volunteers is done and Live on Amazon!

New Cookin' front cover- 2018  Cookin’ Up a Song

That writing experience in itself would be plenty but the Lord has been laying on my heart to complete a six-week devotional for women called Revitalize! It’s nearly ready for print and you’ll be seeing it on Amazon very soon. I’ll keep you posted!

The Apostle Paul tells us, “Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant-not of the letter but of the Spirit,” (2 Corinthians 3:5-6).

With faith in God and trust in the Holy Spirit, we can pursue our dreams!  Support  and patience from my husband as I’ve spent hours, days, and months typing away is greatly appreciated too.

One of my favorite new sayings is, “Never let you memories be greater than your dreams.”  Let me encourage you to keep looking ahead as God helps you fulfill your dreams too!

In Christ always,

Hi Friends!

I’m honored to continue sharing encouragement from God’s word with you.  Thank you so much for your kind responses and support over the years!

Looking back, I came across an article  that I published back in 2004 titled SCATTERED.

Here’s what I wrote back then.   Do you think it still applies to today?
Keynotes from Carole – Spring 2004

Without the glue of God’s word and the Holy Spirit holding my life together, I would really feel scattered.  You too?shutterstock_305076497

With all of the responsibilities facing me, it seems like I’m looking at a table filled with puzzle pieces and don’t know where to begin to organize them!

Consider my acronym

Stressful Circumstances Attacking The Truthful Encouragement Revealed Each Day!

The truthful encouragement?  God’s Word!

Here’s what James 1:1-3   tell us:  “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes SCATTERED among the nations: Greetings.  Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.”

Perseverance means steady persistence.  In other words, don’t give up!

James continues in Verse 4, “Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

My frequent response: “But Lord, I am so overwhelmed.  I don’t know how to even catch up!”

James 1:5  “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”

“Thank you Lord.   I needed that!”

Let’s pray:  I’m so grateful that You, Father God, are able to connect the scattered pieces of my life and create a beautiful picture that glorifies Your name.  Thank you for Your Holy Spirit who is always with me and that You’re in control of the trials and responsibilities that can overwhelm me.  You remind me, through Your word, that I can turn my eyes away from the cares of the world and lay all of my burdens at Your feet of Your precious Son, Jesus.  Amen!

That’s what I wrote back then.  I have new puzzle pieces on my table and they will keep changing.   What a relief to know that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever!

In Christ always,

Hi Friends!

Blessings to you this chilly January day!

Yes, it’s a new year and I’m looking forward to all that the Lord has for us.  Aren’t you?

As I put all of my Christmas decorations away and put my antique Bible back in its place, I thought I’d share a little about this family treasure with you.

Melvin Bible 001

My King James Bible was a gift given to my great-grandparents on their wedding day in 1871. There are several pictures of my ancestors inside including the one below of Elizabeth Melvin.

Melvin Bible 009

What a darling great-grandmother-to-be with no clue that I would be mentioning her almost 150 years later!

I believe that Elizabeth treasured her Bible and that she prayed for her family.  Those prayers have made a difference in my being here and the Lord’s protection over my life.

It’s amazing to think that God has made me a caretaker of His Holy word, not just on antique pages, but His living, breathing Word!  We find it in book form, on the internet, audio Bible, braille; whatever form we can take to heart and hide there.

I’m greatly blessed to have evidence of my descendants.  Yes, I realize that.  But, as an heiress in God’s Kingdom, my descendants go back much farther.  You’ll find their stories in the Old and New Testaments.

As you look ahead to 2018, remember that Matthew 6:21 tells us, “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

God bless you as you keep seeking His treasure!

In Christ always,

‘For in him we live and move and have our being.‘  Acts 17:28
